The New York Library Association (NYLA) is a statewide organization dedicated to promoting libraries and librarianship in the state of New York. Founded in 1890, NYLA was the first statewide organization of librarians in the United States, and its early leaders played a key role in establishing professional standards and advancing library services across the country.

Among NYLA’s founders was Melvil Dewey, a pioneering librarian and educator who developed the Dewey Decimal System for library classification and organization. Dewey’s contributions to the field of librarianship continue to have a lasting impact on libraries in the United States and around the world.

NYLA was granted a provisional charter in 1929 and its Absolute Charter in 1946, solidifying its role as the leading voice for libraries and librarians in New York State. Today, NYLA represents a diverse membership of librarians, library staff, and library supporters, and works to promote library services, advocate for library funding, and provide professional development opportunities for its members.

NYLA is a dynamic organization with a diverse membership that includes librarians from public, system, school, college, and university libraries, as well as from many special libraries, library trustees, and friends of libraries. Since its founding in 1890 with a membership of just 43, NYLA has grown into a vital organization with several thousand members from all over the United States.

As part of its mission to promote and advocate for libraries and librarianship, NYLA publishes a weekly email newsletter called “News You Can Use” and a monthly electronic publication, the “NYLA Bulletin.”

These publications provide members with the latest news and developments in the library field, as well as practical tips and resources to help them excel in their profession.

NYLA is an active advocate for important issues that affect libraries and the communities they serve, such as improving library funding and increasing access to publicly funded research. Through its advocacy efforts, NYLA works to ensure that libraries are able to provide the highest quality services to all users, regardless of their background or circumstances.

NYLA also recognizes and celebrates the achievements and contributions of its members to the library community through various awards, fellowships, and scholarships. These programs help support the professional development of library school students and provide recognition for outstanding librarianship and service to the library profession.

This coming  November, Proisle Publishing Service will be participating in the event as an exhibitor, and we would be honored to represent your book during this prestigious occasion. Your book possesses significant potential for success at this event, as it has already been identified as highly marketable and has a considerable chance of being discovered by a broader audience.

Our primary objective is to place your book in front of the right individuals—key decision-makers in the book industry—who will undoubtedly appreciate its value and potential once they have the opportunity to discover it.

To maintain the aesthetic appeal of our exhibit, we will be showcasing a limited number of books, ensuring that each title receives the attention it deserves without overcrowding the display.

We would like to extend an invitation for you to attend the event in person, giving you the opportunity to experience the atmosphere and engage with the literary community firsthand.
